How do I add a value into a custom field?

You can set custom field values only for assets for now.

Create Asset

When creating an asset, the custom fields show up in the section “Custom Information”

The fields only show up, if they meet the visiblity rights for the current asset described here.

If the visibility right is “All Assets” and you are in the right group, the field shows up directly when you click “Add asset”. Else you first must select the right type and or group.

If the field is required, you must add a value before your are aloud to save the asset.

Edit Asset

When creating an asset, the custom fields show up in the section “Custom Information”.

If you have a custom field that has a value, and then you change the type, or group so that the asset doesn’t have access to this custom field anymore, the value is not lost. It simply gets hidden. If you switch back to the corresponding type or group the value is back.

If any of the custom fields that apply for this asset are required, the asset cannot be saved.
