The Stationbird serves as a stationary gateway for detecting assets equipped with BLE tags.
The device comes with it's special adapter for easy installation, along with a DC power supply with interchangeable plugs, so that you can connect it to any wall socket, no matter where you are in the world.
The Stationbird can be a great tool for monitoring assets coming and going in your warehouse or supply storage, so that you are always aware of the whereabouts of your belongings. To achieve this, the Stationbird will scan for nearby BLE tags every 10 minutes.
Although a scan is done every ten minutes, you will only get location updates hourly on the platform. This is to reduce data consumption and optimise our background processes.
Keep in mind that with this scan interval, you are "missing out" on events that happen in between.
For example if your ladder is taken out of the warehouse right after a scan was done, and it is brought back to the warehouse after two minutes, you will not get notified about its absence as the gateway never really detected it as gone.
We had to make this compromise regarding scanning intervals as otherwise the devices would consume a great amount of data.
If other gateways are nearby your stationary one, it can happen that both of them detect the same tags. This will cause the BLE assets location to "pop" around between the two gateways. A workaround for this can be to assign both gateways for the same site. This way only the "asset was near" caption will change but you will always see the same exact location.
This scenario happens often when vehicles equipped with car trackers park near a warehouse where a gateway was installed.
