Harsh cornering is detected by how fast the driving angle changes over time. It is a hardcoded value in the device’s configuration.
Currently our trackers will report a harsh cornering event if the cornering is faster than 5,5 rad/second.

Harsh acceleration is detected whenever a vehicle’s acceleration is greaten than 4,5 m/s²
Harsh breaking is triggered whenever a vehicle’s speed is decreasing with a rate larger than 4,5 m/s².
We are continuously trying to refine these values to not trigger too often during a trip. If you feel that alerts are generated way too frequently for certain scenarios, feel free to reach out to us with a indicating specific trip and time when said alerts were triggered. Information like this can be of great value in order to refine this feature for a more realistic behaviour.
