Electrical safety inspection: Use of Measuring Devices With and Without SafetyTest Integration

This article explains the difference between the electrical safety inspection (PAT) check process with and without SafetyTest integration. Both workflows can be fully represented in ToolSense, but they differ in handling and the level of automation.

Important: If you are using the offline version of SafetyTest, integration with ToolSense is not possible. In this case, the check is carried out following the workflow without integration.

Workflow Without Integration

1. Create Asset

The asset to be checked must be manually created in both SafetyTest and ToolSense.
There is no automatic transfer from ToolSense to SafetyTest.

2. Perform Check

The technician performs the check using the SafetyTest device.

The check report generated by SafetyTest is either photographed and uploaded into ToolSense, or the measured values are manually entered into a customizable ToolSense form.

3. Ticket Status in ToolSense

• Check passed → Ticket is automatically closed

• Defects found → Ticket remains open

4. Next Check Date

After the form is submitted, ToolSense automatically calculates and stores the next check date on the asset.

5. Check Report

The full check report is:

• stored on the related asset in ToolSense,

• and attached to the ticket.

Workflow With SafetyTest Integration

1. Create Asset

Assets created in ToolSense are automatically synced with SafetyTest (depending on the account setup).

This removes the need for duplicate asset creation in both systems.

2. Perform Check

The technician performs the check using the SafetyTest device.

The check report generated by SafetyTest is either photographed and uploaded into ToolSense, or the measured values are manually entered into a customizable ToolSense form.

3. Next Check Date

The next check date is automatically transferred from SafetyTest to ToolSense.

From the first check onward, SafetyTest is the source of truth for check intervals.

4. Check Report

The full check report is:

• stored on the asset (document section),

• and attached to the relevant ticket in ToolSense.

The current integration covers key use cases and is continuously being enhanced. Additional automation features and extended functionality are under internal consideration.
